Honoring youth in foster care who graduate from high school and college.

Each year, Jordan's Furniture honors youth in foster care who earn their high school diploma or college degree. Every May, we reward these students with a statewide Youth Achievement Celebration at our Jordan's Reading location. Hundreds of guests, including honored youth, foster families, and social workers, pack our Sunbrella® IMAX Theater for this moving event.

Hosted by Eliot Tatelman, Jordan's President and CEO, the evening features a special awards ceremony and inspiring guest speaker. Past speakers include the late Boston Mayor Tom Menino, former Massachusetts Governor Duvall Patrick, and Joe Fallon from The Fallon Companies. Every graduate receives a Certificate of Achievement, along with an exclusive gift bag.

We began sponsoring the Youth Achievement Celebration in 2002, when over 75 celebrants were invited to the IMAX Theater in Natick. In 2007, the event grew so large we had to move it to our Reading location, to accommodate the number of youth, their foster parents, siblings, and social workers who gathered to celebrate.

“Each year, this event gets bigger and bigger. We are thrilled to continue the tradition of honoring the youth,” said Tatelman. “It is important to acknowledge the academic achievements of these great kids, many who have made it through some adverse conditions. It is our way to show our support for them.”
